Position Overview

Sofidel America, part of the Sofidel Group, is a leading global manufacturer of tissue paper products committed to sustainability, innovation, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

We are currently seeking a Converting Shift Supervisor to join our manufacturing team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily converting operations, ensuring a safe and productive work environment, and leading a high-performing team to achieve production, quality, and operational goals. The ideal candidate is a motivated leader who is committed to continuous improvement, employee development, and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not be limited to:

  • The Shift Supervisor will assume responsibility for a designated group of employees, providing support, direction, and enforcing work standards. This individual will supervise the converting department's activities, including setting up materials for work orders, assigning production orders to production lines, and organizing converting areas to maintain production, all while adhering to existing policies and precedence.
  • Provide guidance to converting department workers to aid in the investigation and resolution of issues. Evaluate the performance of employees and offer guidance and training. Start personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, terminations, and disciplinary actions. Determine current and future personnel levels, as well as new employee training, to provide a safe working environment.
  • Examine production area prior to beginning of shift and conduct meetings prior to shift to review safety procedures and production orders.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to implement action plans for all injuries and safety-related concerns that occur during shifts and complete all incident/injury reports.
  • Consult and communicate with the Quality team about any immediate quality concerns, and follow up as necessary.
  • Evaluate machine run speeds and monitor changeover notifications, notifying the maintenance team as needed.
  • Examine data from the PC Touch to ensure that all production requirements are met.
  • Perform or assist with any operations as needed to maintain workflow, fulfill deadlines, and meet quality standards. Notify management of any odd equipment or operating issues, as well as the need for additional materials and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines and keeping the work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Job Requirements

    • Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, and/or three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or training is preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience managing a production team within a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting experience is preferred.
    • Strong sense of job ownership/accountability with effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must have or obtain a lift certification.
