Position Overview

Converting Packaging Operator 

 

Sofidel America is a subsidiary of the Sofidel Group, one of the leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and domestic use worldwide. We are currently seeking a Converting Packaging Operator to join our team. 

 

In this role, you will be responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining packaging equipment and processes to ensure the production of finished products that meet both customer and company requirements. The Converting Packaging Operator will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and high-quality production environment. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety and environmental procedures and correctly utilize all safety PPE as required.
  • Participate in accident investigations as required.
  • Understand and apply customer specifications to the operation of the machine to assure finished goods comply with customer requirements.
  • Perform regular audits of equipment to ensure that the equipment is safe to operate including guards and safety systems.
  • All quality checks must be performed to published quality standards with honesty and integrity.
  • Inform the shift supervisor as well as appropriate management of non-conforming products.
  • Ensure the operating area and equipment are kept cleanly to minimize the risk of contaminants.
  • Run the machinery at maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure to set up all the equipment in the best way due to achieve the best performance.
  • Perform basic maintenance functions, and write work orders for items not able to be corrected.
  • Plan and perform change-over functions and set up equipment as necessary.
  • Eliminate all waste on raw materials and production activities.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department and quality department.
  • Record productivity, and quality data on a shift basis with honesty and integrity.
  • Perform work functions as a team.
  • Guarantee the implementation and maintain a system of good practices.
  • Assist and advise management in specific training requirements.
  • Perform functions utilizing LEAN manufacturing techniques to minimize waste and optimize production.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and prior experience is preferred.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals.
