This position will sit within an established engineering team that thrives on continuous development of knowledge and practical application. Working Monday – Friday this role plays an important part of the day-to-day workings of the Converting Machines. This role is well-suited to an Electrical Engineer with experience working in a FMCG environment, happy to be hands on and always willing and eager to learn.
What you will be doing:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with safety regulations and company standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to motors, drives (VFDs), control systems, lighting, wiring, circuit breakers, and transformers.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on production equipment, including paper machine, pulp processing units, and conveyor systems.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics.
- Install and program PLCs, HMIs, and related automation systems as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of all electrical work performed.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and electrical codes and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance projects.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and assist with on-call duties when required.
- Adhere to 5S workplace organization standards.
What you will need:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma
- 17th / 18th edition wiring regulations
- Completion of an approved electrician apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.
- Additional certifications in PLC programming or motor control systems are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a pulp or paper mill or similar heavy manufacturing environment
- Experience with paper machine electrical systems, motor controls, and high-voltage equipment is strongly preferred.
