This position will sit within an established engineering team that thrives on continuous development of knowledge and practical application. Working in our continental shift pattern of 2 days/2 nights 4 off, this role plays an important part of the day-to-day workings of the Paper making machines. This role is well-suited to an Electrical Engineer with experience working in an heavy industry environment, happy to be hands on and always willing and eager to learn.

Main Duties:

  • Perform scheduled and planned maintenance repairs of equipment, as well as emergency/unscheduled repairs of mill equipment during unplanned shutdowns
  • Capable of repairing electrical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic & hydraulic devices
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment throughout the mill
  • Safely use all hand and power tools. After onsite training and certification, safely use aerial lift equipment, fall protection, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to electrical failure, report conditions, and recommend steps to be taken.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as changing contacts, checking motors, according to instructions.
  • PLC knowledge will be an asset.   
  • Install cables, conduit, for new equipment or replacing old one
  • Strong communication skills, and a team-player attitude
  • Collaborate with other team members as necessary to resolve problems and determine the roots cause.
  • Reads and uses all types of electrical schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Perform or assist with operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Additional Skills/Requirements

  • Must be available to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends and holidays, overtime, and call-ins
  • 1-2 years experience ideally in a manufacturing background
  • Paper Mill process experience a plus.
  • Experience in electro-mechanical maintenance background in a large-scale heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Installation, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and distribution systems
  • Blueprint/schematic reading, access and read electrical, pneumatic and mechanical drawings
  • Relevant qualification, NVQ, Diploma, Degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • 18th Edition advantageous
