THE ROLE:

Sofidel is one of the world’s leading Company’s in Paper Manufacturing. Operating globally, sustainability is at the heart of our daily operations, we are passionate about paper and committed to the future of our planet. We are world leaders in what we do, and we are currently looking for an adaptable and collaborative Papermill Assistant Production Manager to join us at our Hamilton Site in Leicester. You will be working at the beginning of the production line and will watch our famous products come to life.

 

Working at a world leading company, you will gain hands-on experience with some of the most complicated pieces of machinery in a fast paced, demanding and driven environment that is continually developing. The successful candidate will be assisting the management of a motivated and highly dedicated team and helping to supervise the Papermill production line through supporting daily operations, facilitating machinery functioning and maintaining high performance, communication and coordination.

 

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will work alongside the Papermill Production manager to:

  • Assist Papermill performance, production planning, reporting and daily operations.
  • Facilitate with the maintenance and breakdown of machinery and resolve any problems
  • Manage the Papermill towards KPI targets and uphold a good understanding of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Help maintain the inventory, raw materials management, downtime and waste reductions
  • Maintain quality control standards, specifications and documentation
  • Support the process of improvement initiatives
  • Maintain efficient coordination with Maintenance, Logistics and Quality Assurance departments, shift workers and operators
  • Effectively communicate with operators, maintenance and senior managers
  • Supervise compliance to health & safety and workplace safety rules and regulations, uphold environmental regulation, risk assessments and hazard reporting
  • Continually provide strong leadership and team supervision, arrange workforce scheduling and labour management, carry out training to machine operators and mentorship to junior members of staff and help deal with team queries and conflicts.
  • Manage, log and maintain the SAP system

 

ADDITIONAL SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, preferably the pulp and paper industry.
  • Knowledge of paper production, machinery, workflow systems, workplace safety regulations and environmental compliance is highly desirable.
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or a related field is desirable.
  • Knowledge in SAP, MES or equivalent.
  • Experience in Lean, 5S, Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Willingness to work in a shift pattern and in fast-paced production timelines.

 

WORKING HOURS:

  • Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week
