CNV Production Specialist

Position Overview

Sofidel America, a leading manufacturer of tissue products committed to sustainability and operational excellence, is seeking a Converting Production Specialist to join our Converting team. The Converting Production Specialist is a key member of the Converting leadership team, working to continuously improve performance of the converting assets.

Job Responsibilities

• Converting technician supporting the maintenance of Converting equipment at precision base condition with the focus on reduction of unscheduled downtime, decreased quality production losses and improved analytical troubleshooting skills:
• Uptime improvement
• Speed improvement
• OEE improvement
• Develop standards / systems to increase skill level for the department with focus on continuously improving capability at level 3 and above
• Working with shift trainers to develop tools/techniques for effective training
• Identify the root cause of process upsets, safety events, and/or QA events
• Participate in the action items as follow ups to eliminate/mitigate the root cause(s)
• Support the sustain portion of coaching through health checks the developed processes that were implemented
• Support the Department with Product Development work:
• Able to make effective and efficient machine adjustments to enable completion of a trial or FPR
• Tracking the changes in the machine, and saving the programs to help the Process Engineer develop centerlines
• Work together with the Process Engineer(s):
• Developing and maintaining daily machine processes
• Balance the workload between planned work and unplanned troubleshooting
• Support the daily operations review (DOR), collecting data and understanding the gaps in past 24hrs
• Work through sustained downtime reduction
• Able to fill-in for Process Engineers if necessary
• Works collaboratively with Business Unit/Department
• High safety focus – able to stop work and ensure themselves and team members are being safe
• Focus on capability system and development – high skill and knowledge level regarding the assets in the department. Capable of high-level troubleshooting
• Understand basic and complex skills needed to execute area standard work – 5S, CL, CIL, SOP
• Owns OPL & SOP process
• Increase flexibility across the department – able to work across all assets in department to assist as needed
• Develop skill gap closure plans for department top losses (Process Upset, Minor Stop, Changeover, ETC…)
• Comfortable working with data through Supervision and Excel (Downtime, run rates, and production)
• Mentor on Team Leads and shift trainers – be able to assist in basic process training
• Work with department & Training supervisor to build training plans for operators in the business unit (Gap closure or career planning)
• Develop Calendar to perform audits, precision setups and trigger sheets to identify gap checks
• Partner with maintenance team during break-in events and planned events to support the assets return to full functionality after the maintenance work is completed

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required 
• Internal Candidates must be at least Level 5 in Converting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must have good organizational and computer skills
• Must be self-motivated and energetic.
• Ability to lead and support GSTD activities.
• Must have demonstrated capability in training and development of other operators.
