DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE
To support the line manager in ensuring consistent implementation and monitoring of the Health & Safety Management System across all group sites, guaranteeing legal compliance, safe use of chemical substances and technical safety of machines and production equipment, in accordance with the regulations in force, and the Group’s aims and corporate values.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the Line Manager in ensuring health and safety, the respect of laws and regulations protecting the employees’ health and safety
- Supports the Line Manager in promoting a safety-bound corporate culture, also through the Group’s employees sensitization
- Monitors compliance with national and international Health & safety regulations; ensure timely adaptation to legal updates
- Conducts regular audits and inspections; tracks performance indicators including indicators on job injuries and near-misses and coordinates the implementation of corrective actions
- Monitors the fire prevention and protection measures adopted by the Group’s corporations and supports the CTO in their improvement and updating
- Leads the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Health & Safety Management System across all group facilities in accordance with the established deadlines
- Checks the compliance with the management procedures concerning health and safety
- Coordinates incident investigations and supports root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Develops and delivers health & safety training and awareness programs across the organization
- Coordinates the training activity on health and safety in the Italian firms
- Checks the health and safety training process in the international plants suggesting improvement plans
- Oversees the technical safety of machines and production equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable directives and company standards
- Checks and monitor the level of Technical and Technological Safety of the Group’s plants
- Coordinates and monitors the approval process for new chemicals used within the group; ensure conformity with REACH, and related regulations
- Develops effective communication process to make chemical H&S priorities and performance visible
- Support the CTO and the COO in the improvement process and the safety measures of the productive plants and the Group’s plants
- Collaborate with the Group H&S Manager in the support to the relevant corporate depts in the relationships with the institutions controlling matters of health and safety
- Assists the Line Manager providing regular reports to Group management on Health & Safety performance and initiatives
- Support the Line manager in the management of the RSPP activities
- Support the Line Manager in the coordination of the Group H&S managers’ activities
- Supports the Line Manager in the promotion of the definition and spreading ofthe “Best Practices” in matters of Group’s Health and Safety and shares them across sites
- Support the Line manager in the coordination of the Group’s activities concerning health and safety in the working places, developing problem-solving skills, innovation and search for synergies among the relevant areas, ensuring its uniform application
- Promote and check the guidelines for the correct implementation of the health and safety management system
- Promote a safety-bound corporate culture
- Apply the Corporate Principles and Values
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION
- PhD in chemistry
- Experience (at least 2 years) of Health & Safety in a large facility (more than 200 people) and in product safety and regulatory affairs. More experienced candidates are welcome to apply
- Knowledge of important global registration requirements and processes would be advantageous (e.g. REACH, K-REACH, TSCA, Order No. 12)
- Experience in preparation and submission of REACH registration dossiers would be advantageous
- Good judgment in managing issues and escalating as required
- Project management skills
- Proven ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships within teams and across functional and national interfaces
